Police have not determined the motive
Investigators said the damage was probably caused by a rock thrown at the building. Rabbi Eli Levin described a heavy paving stone, and the congregation called the incident a hate crime. Until the investigation is complete, the documented method of damage must be distinguished from claims about motive.
The mayor promised a thorough investigation
Ramat Hasharon Mayor Itzik Rochberger called the broken window a serious act of vandalism and emphasized freedom, tolerance, and coexistence between religious and secular residents. Public condemnation can support the community, but its weight will be tested by investigation, repair, and prevention of another attack.
The previous attack reached a prayer hall
A short time earlier youths entered Jerusalem’s Kol HaNeshama synagogue, damaged art, and removed Pride flags. No worshippers were inside. Two incidents close together increase concern among Reform communities, although no evidence yet shows that the same people carried them out or that they were coordinated.
The congregation continued its regular service
Darchei Noam said Friday evening prayer would proceed as planned and invited supporters to attend. Founded in 1981, the congregation offers egalitarian services, education, preparation for bar and bat mitzvah, and volunteer activity. Continuing the program is a practical response to an attempt to intimidate a communal space.
