The product targets odour instead of covering it

Food- or pharmaceutical-grade raw material is not proof that the complete application is safe. Brands need concentration, fibre binding, migration, irritation and dye-compatibility data and must test the finished textile with all other treatments under real wear.
Adsorption and antibacterial action are different
Odour marketing often mixes capture of molecules, inhibition of microbes and fragrance masking, although each has different tests and regulatory consequences. Customers should use only the claim demonstrated on their fabric; antimicrobial claims may face stricter rules than comfort claims.
Gas chromatography measures selected molecules while a sniff panel measures perception. ICL reports durability on nylon after 25 washes, but an independent brand should obtain protocols and repeat testing on its own cotton, polyester or elastane blend.
Less washing is possible, not guaranteed
A garment that seems fresh longer may save water, energy and wear if users actually wash it less. An LCA must count magnesium production, application and end of life against a realistic number of avoided washes.
Uniform and hotel operators can control and measure intervals more easily. Healthcare hygiene must never rely on odour, and TextiMag cannot override protocols. The best potential is in garments washed chiefly for perceived freshness rather than contamination.
The magnesium comes from Dead Sea industry
ICL links the product to its mineral and chemical base near the Dead Sea. Vertical integration may support purity and traceability, but environmental assessment must include energy, water, infrastructure and extraction impacts. Natural origin does not prove a low footprint.
Brands need supplier audits, chemical registration and compliance with restricted-substance lists. Comparison should use equal function, not a simplistic contrast of natural and chemical: magnesium is also a chemical, and form, dose and production determine impact.
Easy integration determines adoption
ICL says TextiMag fits standard finishing, yet mills still need bath, drying, fixation and wastewater trials. The change must not slow a line or make an uneven surface. Cost includes chemistry, dose, energy and possible lifetime savings, while brands must explain any premium without exaggerated health claims.
Adoption runs through finishing mills and brands, requiring application labs, distributors and certification. Consistent concentrate, a simple recipe and a routine batch test matter more than a broad list of possible uses.
A Czech textile company can test the whole cycle
A pilot should compare treated and reference fabric before and after repeated washes, measuring standardised odour, mechanics, colour, hand and migration. A wear panel can track real wash intervals, alongside wastewater and per-garment cost.
TextiMag shows an Israeli mineral company seeking higher-value applications. Its value will depend on independent studies, real brand use and transparent LCA. A durable treatment that genuinely reduces washing may matter; a surface claim on a label will not.
